In a month I'm getting ready to do a short trip at Pictured Rocks. Besides being absolutely beautiful trail that I've done before it's an easy trail for the first time backpacker and I happen to be taking a complete newbie. So I have a question.
This may not be the perfect group to ask this question since he will not be really doing the "light" thing. But I'm wondering if anyone has a somewhat basic list in electronic format of the items you pack. I had one somewhere but when I changed computers apparently I've lost it. I don't go by a "check list" anymore I just kinda through stuff together. I guess I'm just being a bit lazy hoping one of you would have one handy.
I've cautioned him not to purchase too much gear since he doesn't know whether he will hate this or love this. I have a few extra items I'm letting him borrow but I don't have extra rain gear so I've advised him to get a cheap pancho or something similar as it's only a 3.5 day trip.
I've never taken been a newbie before but I was one in 2008 when I did 3.5 days on the NCT in the UP. So I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts or advice I might pass on to him?
