I was only pointing out the gross negligence aspect in the hope that this *was* an act of gross negligence rather than some anomalous insanity. At least we can petition to crack down on distracted driving and its pretty obvious. A law enforcement agent could stand where this accident occurred and probably get 10 people an hour that were actively distracted by a phone. Although I have an extreme cycling bias, I can't help think that this kind of distracted driving that I see every single day is dangerous for everyone. If it it was, in fact, malicious and had intent, that scares me even more because there is nothing we can do about that. At least there *is* something we could consider doing with the distracted driving. r On 4/26/12 9:27 PM, Jim Feeley wrote: > Here's a link to the YouTube video that starts about 10 seconds before the car hits the cyclists: > > http://youtu.be/h3LatOGCWVc?t=2m30s > > Note the YouTube comment from Ted Fisher that says: > "License plate is 3LTK904, verified with CA smog lookup. 1995 Acura Integra." > > I'll guess eventually the time of the crash will be compared to the cell phone records of the car's driver. > > Looks like the two riders are OK...hope that's actually the case. > > Jim Feeley > [email protected] > > > On Apr 26, 2012, at 5:02 PM, Richard Levenberg wrote: > >> It could be gross negligence looking at a cell phone rather than driving, veering way over then being so flustered they just drove on. I'll be on my way home, on bike, in that exact same spot in 45 minutes.
