Would you drive your car with just a flashlight at night?

Its not about only lumens, that's like catching every drop of water out of
a garden hose and saying that a light gives a given usable visibility based
on it.  Totally wrong.

Who cares about dimly lighting up owl nests and chimneys, nor being so
bright in the middle that your eye tunes out what's even slightly to the
side?

Usable visibility is about where the light goes.
Now picture a fine new German car's headlight.  Precise high resolution
optics.  No blinding oncoming drivers.  An even beam pattern illuminating
the width of the roadway with an even brightness.
     On hign power its enough to vaporize a vampire.
Imagine a bike light that doesn't blind your peripheral vision as part of
being bright in the middle?

What is bright anyway?

Lumens?

Lux?

The net lumen measurement within the German standard legal outline for
where a bike light beam may disperse?  Or should we also subtract any lumen
count that's 50% or above the lumen measurement at the 50% sideways
midpoint of the beam?  Or what the French or English require?

About Deal Extreme, if you buy a light from them it probably will last
