Caltrain is moving to electrification, however how to generate or pay
for the electricity hasn't yet come up for public discussion.
A few years ago I stated my thoughts on placing windmills along the top of
the peninsula as a way to provide electricity for Caltrain, electric car
charging, and just about all the rest of our electrical needs, when of
course, there is enough wind blowing. There's at least as much wind up
there as we get coming in Livermore and Altamount on the East Bay.
What could be wrong with windmills? They were surprisingly attacked
as being completely unacceptable by environmental extremists as mass bird
killing machines. While the debate on the level of birdkill currently
deployed windmills in our area cause, just like any good idea with rough
edges is bound to continue to be developed, new windmill technology has
come along that is safer for flying animals.

What does Caltrain have in the works for powering their electrification?
If they haven't looked at building a wind farm, maybe the time to begin is
now?
