Sad news from the South Bay.  Ellen was my predecessor on the board of the League of American Bicyclists (the Wheelmen). and also was instrumental in regional bike groups. The original bike boulevard in Palo Alto was named in her honor.

Palo Alto cycling legend Ellen Fletcher succumbed to lung cancer yesterday afternoon.  With the aid of 24 hour caregivers the last few weeks, she remained on her own in her own place, gracefully and gratefully receiving visitors to the end.  Until a few weeks ago, she was still forwarding emails with comments to this list.  We'll miss her a lot.
