[Ebbc-Talk] Asking advice about bent integral aluminum frame hanger

Crowdsourcing my repair issue...

We bought one of these for my 
wife http://www.ecobike-usa.com/products/vatavio-folding-electric-bike.html . 
It's been pretty good. Unfortunately, they've gone out of business. I 
know that know because I wanted to ask them about frame repair. The 
chain came off the rear sprockets and wedged between the spokes and 
largest sprocket. It tore the derailleur to pieces and it bent the 
derailleur hanger (integral to the frame, not separate).

I've been told that bending aluminum risks breaking it and that doing 
it right involves heat treating and is expensive. I've also been told 
that this is why most aluminum bikes have separate derailleur 
hangers. A frame repair place things he might fashion a steel hanger 
to bolt on. I'm thinking it would be great if the frame could be 
slightly cut or shaved to accept a some standard derailleur hanger. 
Am I out of line?

Any pointers at all - repair places, metal shops, or tips? Thanks for anything!
