At the top of Grizzly Peak this afternoon I encountered a city of Oakland survey crew. When I asked, they confirmed that they are the advance crew for the repaving project. They also said they were being pushed to complete their work by the end of March so that the project could begin in April. They had no information on specific dates, but did say that the project is due to happen "soon." So, there still seems to be some hope of completion before the century on May 5!
