which is a legitimate concern for some (but not all) businesses. my current
gig is as a java programmer/database developer for a unit that does lots
and lots of outsourced processing of state and local taxes, and we're talking
about billions of dollars and huge amounts of confidential information passing
through.  i think they have a right to be concerned.

the other concern is idiots bringing in infested laptops. i know of a few cases
where worms and viruses that were being handled at the gateways came in
via the laptop back door.

you can always stick your stash of potentially useful configs on
a flash card or a pen drive and bring them in that way. unless of course
they don't even let you do that.
