Hi Dale, I like your positive approach -- perhaps this is only a better statement of what I was alluding to in earlier emails. Focus on the intent beneath what you are avoiding -- I went the other direction of finding a way to accomplish your underlying intent without doing what you don't like. I don't talk with myself much about 'marketing' because that is too broad a term -- it conjures up such a huge range of options -- many of which I don't like to do -- that I get stuck. It strikes me that one cause of my own resistance is approaching something at too high a level -- telling myself that I must do "marketing" instead of picking up the phone and calling up friends to see if they know someone that could use what I do, or calling a prospect just to check in. Granted, when I'm doing strategy level considering, I'll think through elements of a marketing plan that include a variety of actions that I either like to do or can find someone else that likes to do them. The same thing applies with the term "Build my business" -- that's a pretty broad term that implies a couple long list of to-do's, many of which are pretty dusty and carefully placed in the back of my anxiety closet where they belong. Reflecting on it, I sometimes get myself stuck in resistance by not bringing things to an actionable level. So the resistance might just mean that I'm not specific enough. Another good question for me to ask myself when I'm feeling stuck. Dale Emery wrote: > When I notice that I'm acting it out, I recognize it as an old > friend. This is golden advice! We have a saying "You have to give your best stuff away for free." I apply it in these situations and use these situations to learn from myself what I know, how I can apply what I know out on a new edge of application, and further develop my trade and my self confidence (for when it is flagging). I don't get paid money but I get paid in huge value -- and if I'm working with friends, they are part of the chain to helping me find others who are willing and able to pay for the value I bring. Plus it sends good energy around in the world. Amy Amy Schwab True North pgs, Inc. project guidance strategies http://www.projectcommunity.com ------------------------ Yahoo!
