1982 mk1 instrument cluster LED specification and/or replacements

Does anyone know the specifications for the LEDs in the mk1 instrument cluster or what the proper reading should be when testing with a digital multimeter. OR how to test the LEDs with cluster removed from vehicle? I found the current generation LEDs with glow when polarity is correct and multimeter is used. When I measure the older generation LEDs, I get a reading on the meter. I tried three (3) red ones and one (1) green one. For the red ones, 1.508, 1.500, 1.468 respectively and the green one read 1.765. I guess the the power may not be enough for the older generation LEDs, Any input?
