The W-terminal signal is much higher in frequency than a typical tach
(ignition) signal of 2 pulses per rev. Many (most?) tachometers do not
have adjustment large enough to accept the w-terminal signal. None of the
vw gas tachs will accept the w-terminal signal and give an appropriate
reading without changing electronic components within the tach circuit
board.
