VW Rabbit electrics were Do Do when new and 30 plus years later they aren't sometimes reliable. I deal with many Rabbits, Dashers and Foxes that have sat for years and sometimes using the switch rapidly many times rapidly will cure the problem. If not toggle switches are a sure answer. Just had an rude awakening; got up early today, still quite dark outside, started my 1982 caddy and took off. About a mile down the highway, decided to see if bright lights would aid me seeing thru some low foggy spots......Pulled the bright light wand upward and BOOM! was surrounded by total darkness and no Bright LED on. Pulled the wand again and dim lights were restored.
