thanks Bryan
let's see:
- back hatch = functional now if I crawl in and release it - gonna try
to build up some kind of contraption, maybe even gluing the old part
back into place, with JB-Weld or similar
- driver's door: going to pop the panel and examine, remove, clean,
grease, per your suggestion, when I get a minute
- may also need IP or injectors for the Golf - anyone know a good way to
troubleshoot? been running quite rough for a while now - will take a
video when I can
- Jetta back on the road and running well with the new alt + starter;
JB-Weld working great on the oil pan ding - I applied 3 coats, formed in
place with release film + tape, seems like a solid repair
(for the record, JB-Weld seems to be a good product - I had dismissed it
for years, but it's just a high-temp 2-part epoxy, with steel particles
dispersed in the resin
as a guy who rebuilds boats, that seems like a perfectly reasonable
material to fix stuff with)
thanks all!
