A4 cable shifter

Anyone ever have a cable shifter end slip and blow the alignment?  I lost
3, 4, & 5 leaving work the other day.  Fishing around in the cab, it turns
out the Allen key for the sunroof fits pretty well in the alignment holes
so I got the car back to rights.  Problem is it's been drifting around some
since.  It seems nutty to me that should come loose, but I'm getting near
to 400,000 mi and you just never know what's going to wear out.

I just need to fix this permanently.  Last time I had to "adjust" it was in
Highland Park in Dallas.  It's the kind of place where you can get pulled
over for driving a mere VW, much less one that looks like something made
from Mad Max leftovers.

Really officer, I got lost looking for the trailer park.....
