More detailed and topographical - encarta appears not to be zoomable very
far.
 
Actually UK Ordnance Survey maps at 1:50,000 are available for the whole of
England, Wales and Scotland from multimap.com and streetmap.co.uk - the
latter can be used to display a larger area on the screen than the former -
e.g. http://tinyurl.com/z5guk
 
I have no knowledge of the quadripoint mentioned in the OP - just caught my
attention as I used to hang out around here on summer hols as a kid
