No member was banned for eccentricities.

One was banned for abusing other members.
Many were new members who did not know his eccentricities.
This abuse extended to private messages off the group.
He was given every chance to stop.
He made it clear that he would not.
His value to the group was acknowledged throughout.
His conduct, though, was costing us members.
It had to stop.

I, too, miss his expertise, wit, and discussion.
I miss these, though, only when they were sober.
Eccentricities can be tolerated.
Abuse cannot.

Would he be welcome back?
That would depend on him.
Would he submit to fair moderation?
Would be be willing to stop off-group abuse?

I don't know.
I would like to know.
