A "learning org" Idea

(this is excerpted from an email I sent to many people I've
met over the years)

The purpose of this email:

I've started a list for people who'd like to get updates
from me no more often than once every four months.

I'm emailing you because I'd like to get similar updates
from you, if you start doing this.


One purpose of this practice is to be able to learn from
others while keeping email time to a minimum. There is no
need for us to ever even wish to meet again in person...
(but many of you I hope to meet again).

That is, some of us would not wish to spend time emailing /
interacting in a personal way, yet we realize the benefits
of learning about life paths different from our own. (For
example, recipients of this email include musicians,
activists, scientists, parents, a violin builder, people who
live in different countries, people who are black / white /
straight / bi / Christian / new age and so on...)

In addition, there may be benefits to writing about one's
life at regular intervals.

Some of you might not want to read my updates, but you might
wish to suggest this idea to others who you'd like to hear
from over time.
