Hi Susan,

I am not a type 2 diabetic. I have tumor-driven diabetes via Cushing's syndrome. SO it is neither type 1 or typ 2. Insulin resistance is also not an aspect in my case, but that's because of my careful diet.

It's true I was off isulin for quite a long time, but lately I've head severe illness complications with Cushigns and that has triggered fast conversion of body protein to glucose and thus the need for insulin again.

As I hopefully get the complications under control, (always takes for ever with this) I shoud be able to wean off again - but while I have the prolem, it's better to use insulin than get glycation damage - I had one stroke already from that.

> Most type 2's are not missing insulin, many like myself are insulin resistant.

Yes I also understand that to be so. But I am convinved that diet can remedy insulin resistance. For example other people with Cushigns have insulin resistance (and I am expected to have it but do not) - but they do not avoid starch and sugar as I choose to do.

> I have HIGH insulin levels and HIGH blood glucose whether I eat zero carbs or not, though being on the Atkins Diet and in ketosis certainly helps lower blood glucose.

I started that way when diagnosed - but if you follow the rules in Dr Bernstein's Diabetes Solution - the resistance can be overcome in a few weeks. He's an allopath - but his head is screwed o the right way round :-) He is type 1, and disliked the crummy allopathic diabetes diets that make zero sense. So he studied to be a diabetes specialist.....his book is worth getting for either prevention of diaetes or for knowingwhat to do about it.

> Thus, the allopathic method of prescribing insulin to diabetics who still produce insulin

The prollem is not that they prescrie insulin but tha ghey advise a ridiculously toxic diet, and essentially give permisson to eat starch and sugar till the cows come home, and use insulin against it. That is not what I see insulin for. Bernstein's approach is way better.

In what way?
I've yet to see it fail :-)

Namaste,
    Irene
