I didn't realise that you used bovine insulin in the US

Here in the UK we used to use porcine insulin - then switched to 'human', which I guess is what you mean by synthetic insulin, as it's grown in the lab to mimic human insulin. This has caused problems with diabetics, because apparently with human insulin (unlike porcine) there is no prior warning of a hypo coming on, and people have got caught out a lot. In fact, I knew a friend of a friend who died in her sleep because of it.

my sister has type I diabetes (she was 12 and had flu, like we all. but we got healthy and her body after dealing with virus attacked her pancreas...since then she takes insulin--40 years...
she felt much much better when she switched from bovine to synthetic)
my husband has type II, takes only oral stuff...
seems that his insulin resistance is related too mg-deficiency

Irene,

Since you are now back on insulin, are you "missing" insulin as a type 2 diabetic? 

Most type 2's are not missing insulin, many like myself are insulin resistant.
I have HIGH insulin levels and HIGH blood glucose whether I eat zero carbs or not, though being on the Atkins Diet and in ketosis certainly helps lower blood glucose.  

Thus, the allopathic method of prescribing insulin to diabetics who still produce insulin, to create even higher insulin levels in order to drive glucose lower seems an abnormal use of the hormone while it may produce the desired effect.

Guess that Dr. Bernstein 6g carb/day diet doesn't work well in the long run.

It's not allopathy.
It's replacing a missing item.

Allopathy is to do with suppression by opposites.

I also use insulin, and started out with Novolog (synthetic) specifically to avoid the allergic prolems inherent for atopic peope with non-synthetic insulins.
Unfortunately ALL insulins use the same preservative, so that is still a problem.

Needles are way too easy to use to swap for other stuff in my case.
I load a new one with a day's worth of insulin, and use it as needed through the day.
