Take a look at Wikipedia's "Current events" page:

I think it's a good example for a wiki-based news page. The news posted
there are currently selected according to rather arbitrary criteria --
very minor stuff gets mixed with major world events, and many of those
are ignored entirely.

On the other hand, I've already seen some interesting stuff there, and
the style is consistently neutral. Apparently there are more people who
are willing to fix news that don't look right as per Wikipedia's
policies than people willing to post "new news". That is perhaps a
surprising finding that bodes well for Wikipedia's collaborative editing
model, since everything will get looked over several times.

It will be interesting to watch this one grow.
