Several posts this week have mentioned Dogpile, www.dogpile.com. It's one
of the earlier meta-search tools, by which I mean that it runs one search
simultaneously through a number of engines and returns results from all
(assuming results are available from all).

SurfWax, www.surfwax.com, is another meta-search tool. It calls
combinations of search sources "search sets." It allows the user to specify
the sources to include in a set and also save the set for later use. My
general review of SurfWax for LLRX.com appears here:
http://www.llrx.com/columns/webcritic13.htm , while my review of the legal
version of SurfWax is here: http://www.llrx.com/columns/webcritic15.htm . I
have found SurfWax handy in the past for fact research but have not used it
much for legal. Does anyone have experience with it?

The latest edition of Tara's ResearchBuzz mentions recent upgrades to
Mamma, "the mother of all search engines," http://www.mamma.com/. You can
read her description at http://www.researchbuzz.com (and while you're
there, sign up for her newsletter.) I have not used Mamma; can any of you
speak to it? It appears to search directories, indexes and pay-per-click
services.

Any other meta-search engines we should know about?
