Knowledge Management, Weblogs, and Legal Practice

I was curious to know what anybody's thoughts were in terms of using 
weblogging software (e.g. Movable Type) as an interface to a central 
knowledge repository for a firm or small practice.

Clearly, it would not be optimal for a solo practicioner.  Also, my 
belief is that a larger firm's adoption of MT (or some other software) 
would be largely dependent upon firm culture.  Would a firm which 
frequently circulates memos have a higher probability of adoption over 
one that transfers intra-attorney advice at the water-cooler?

I think that the weblog interface would be far superior to any email 
platform as an archive of knowledge exchange.  However, would enough 
efficiencies be enjoyed to justify the opportunity cost of lost billable 
hours to a potential weblogging addiction?
