Open Access Research

Sabrina Pacifici's blog had a great bit of information concerning attempts to 
mandate scientific research to be "open access."  The report is here:

As my postings to this listserve have previously indicated, my guess is that 
open access will (i) greatly increase the amount of knowledge and 
dissemination of knowledge which will lead to research that will (ii) greatly 
increase both the speed at which the amount of knowledge grows and  the 
speed at which the knowledge is disseminated.  This, in turn, will . . .You 
get the picture.
