advice for a fellow bookworm?

Mr. Blumenthal,

I am a veteran grade 5 teacher, from Massachusetts,
and I have recently completed my first novel, which is
45,000 words and written for young readers. I have
written four drafts and am currently working on the
cover letter and book synopsis that I plan to send to
literary agencies. As a published author, I thought
you might have some advice to help me accomplish my
goal of getting the novel published. 

Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
