Yearly Project Gutenberg Progress Report
For The Year of 2007: December 25, 2007

As most of you know I tend to start my yearly Project Gutenberg reviews a
month and a week before the end of the year, but this time we just passed
one of these major marks a week before New Year's Day.

Here is the current graph of Project Gutenberg progress from 10 to 26,000
Please note: the > is the actual point on the graph, marked in quarters.
Note: We had just entered the 4th quarter of 2007, and reached 25,000 of
the books created via the various Project Gutenberg systems since 1971.
This is the first time we passed THREE 500 eBook entires in one quarter--
since just before we hit eBook #10,000 in 2003.
Many of these entries are from The Project Gutenberg Weekly Newsletters--
usually coming out on Wednesdays, hence most of the totals are overage of
more books having been completed before the next Wednesday. There aren't
always exactly daily counts, so some of the non-Wednesdays are estimates,
as to the exact day, not to mention time zone.
At various times in our history we added:
August, 2001, Project Gutenberg of Australia, now approaching 1600 eBooks.
January, 2006, Project Gutenberg of Europe, now approaching 500 eBooks.
January, 2006, Project Gutenberg Preprint Site, now approaching 500 eBooks.
July 1, 2007, Project Gutenberg of Canada, just started this year.
Project Gutenberg of Chinese, just starting now, already in our Top 10!!!
The Two Americas Project, just starting now.

Please note that many duplications have been detected and removed, between
the various Project Gutenberg sites between 2006 and 2007, so the curve is
appearing somewhat less for 2007 than under the old accounting system, BUT
I have been assured that this has now been taken care of in accounting, so
you only need to worry about it in my graphs, but that official accounting
has worked in the differences over time so as to avoid any misleading jump
in either direction due to duplicate listings.
