Hello. It looks nothing can be done for the everincreasing
copyright protection times. People should look for alternatives
where authors/publishers give up the rights.

 -A license a la GPL which states that this print can be
  handled as public domain book after 20-50 years

If existing publishers does not want make this kind of agreements,
then I'm sure new publishers would be willing to go for that
kind of arrangement.

 -Existing publishers could give up rights to those thousands
  of books which are out of print and for which it does not make
  sense to reprint, digitize and sell

Well, if nobody writes such a license or asks publishers to give
up rights, we should stop whining.
