Re: 1500 eBooks in 2003

Last night we passed 4,000 eBooks for the last 18 months,
for a total of 4,019 and a Grand Total of 8,281.

This is 97% of what would be required to keep up with Moore's Law,
but at the rate we are going, we might catch up by December 10!!!

We try to catalogue our books by the same rules as do libraries,
other than listing multiple copies of exactly the same book, of course.

I have gone out of my way NOT to "pad our bibliography" in the manner
of so many of the other eBook providers. . .The Bible was available for
years as a single file before we finally got enough requests to finally
break it down into the individual books. . .similarly for Shakespeare.

Obviously, as with any truly major work, we have multiple editions of
each of these, along with Dante and a few others, but these books are
only a few percent of our entire collection.  In addition, we have done
a few others in the opposite direction, due to requests that collected
works be available as a single file.

Since our readers want to be able to search BOTH by individual book
AND by collected work, we have decided to provide both versions.
Again, the number of additions to our collection created in this
manner is only a few percent, but they increase the usefulness of
our little library enormously.

That means there are ~1719- left to go until we get to #10,000!

Currently we have ~176 days to go to December 10, 2003,
a decade since eBook #100, and are averaging 9 per day,
so we obviously need to do just one more book per day
to average the 10 per day needed to make that goal. . . .

We are currently running at about 97% of Moore's Law growth.

Next week, hopefully about 70 more!
