Invitation to suggest books for scanning

We have received a very nice offer from a small digital
imaging company to do scanning and OCR for Project Gutenberg.
The OCR output will then be submitted to Distributed Proofreaders
for turning into PG eBooks.

As you may know, DP already operates 2 page-fed scanners, as well
as a larger-format flatbed scanner.  The advantage of this
new offer is that the company uses a somewhat higher end scanner,
and is also willing to acquire printed books for destructive
scanning based on suggestions from Project Gutenberg volunteers.
They can handle 8 different languages, so you are not limited
to English.

If you have a suggestion, please email:

with your suggestion.  Your suggestion should be something that
will be copyright-clearable for US publication (see the Copyright
HOWTO etc. at http://beryl.ils.unc.edu/copy.html), and not
otherwise in progress (the listing is via the same URL).

If you know of a source for a particular item, include information
about the source (for example, perhaps you found an item at
abebooks.com)

The books will be destructively scanned, as with DP scanning (this
means that the spines will be chopped off).

I hope we'll get some good suggestions for this offer, and am
looking forward to getting a few items that otherwise we might
not see for awhile.
