nobody has thoughts on a tool to help mark italics? why does this not surprise me? at any rate, the reasoning will be explained later, but for now, go try "the italics game" -- if you feel like it. when you find an italics word on the scan, click it, so it's surrounded by a bounding-box, either blue or red.
