Moderation hasn't taken longer than a few hours, except rarely it's taken close to a day. The situation is that all new subscriptions are moderated, until their first posting is moderated (by me). It's just a way of stopping drive-by spammers, not any sort of limitation on the content/conversation. Dunno why messages from [email protected] wouldn't have gone through, since I haven't seen messages held for moderation. I just cleared the "moderated" flag on that address.
