MobiBook Conversion was atrocious

Hi All,

   I have just finished completed and published an eBook, and have 
converted my Word document to Adobe PDF easily, by virtue of Adobe 
Acrobat Professional.  The conversion was painless.

   I distributed my eBook via Lightning Source, which was a very 
accomodating service.

   At the time, I didn't realize that Amazon.com broke off their 
relationship with Lightning Source, and they are not in business with 
MobiBook.  I understand the strategy here - make these books 
available to PC's, PDA's, etc.  What I do NOT understand is how 
Amazon.com can rely on MobiBook's tools to convert Word and PDF files 
to their required format.

   I attempted to convert both my Word and PDF versions of my eBook 
into MobiBook format (via their converters), and the end result was 
total, unadulterated formatting garbage.  The resultant files did not 
convert well at all, and the eBook is totally unreadable in MobiBook 
format.

   Have others had similar fate with MobiBooks and their toolset ?  I 
am amazed that Amazon.com would risk losing a large eBook publisher 
portion of the market, by switching to this company's format.

   I would love to hear what others have to say here.
