The 220 would probably destroy the charger, but assuming it was 
reasonably well constructed (with intervening fuses etc.) the battery 
might be all right.  You will probably have to write to the manufacturer 
of your e book device to get a new charger, but ebay and such like 
places can be remarkably helpful for things like that too. Suzanne
