Re: Audio-book related topic on today's cartoon strip "Zits"

This illustrates one of the many problems for those of us who use MP3 
players to listen to something other than simple music tracks. In my 
case it is old radio programs, but the same applies to audiobooks:

- Not enough space is provided for meaningful names
- User should be able to set a default for 'Delete this as soon as I've 
heard it'
- Many players still won't resume from the middle of a track (and none 
will automatically backtrack, say, 20 seconds so you can remind yourself 
where the plot is up to).
- MP3 tags don't allow for listing multiple performers, producers, 
directors, authors or -- in the case of narrated books -- a 'Reader' tag.
- Most software won't allow the user to skip, say, 30 seconds forwards 
to jump over advertisements or boring passages.
- Shuffling algorithms are far too simple -- there's no way I can say, 
for instance: 'Play one Jack Benny followed by one Calling All 
Detectives followed by one randomly selected track from elsewhere, then 
repeat until all tracks are used up.'

It may be that audiobook and podcast fans will find themselves in future 
buying different devices to those who just want to listen to music.
