Decades ago my university made its own texts, but it never replaced
also stocking and requiring the use of mainstreamed published books by
international experts.
I went into Borders just before Xmas and it was wall to wall people,
buying books. I really don't think their will be any sudden change
because a lot of people do read, and 99% of them read paperback books.
As do I, most of the time. Even with e-ink I would rather poke my
eyes with sharpened pencils than read a textbook length ebook.
But then I have a collection of near future prophecy books (written in
the 20s-70s, predicting the 70s-current day). The one thing they have
in common is predicting great change, which hasn't occured. Meanwhile
none of them predicted the internet or the cell phone. So who knows.
