  All joking aside, while I've been with this list since its inception, I lurk a lot and try to avoid posting unless I have something to contribute to an ongoing discussion. i.e. DRM, which IMHO is the single worst abuse ever visited on the epublishing industry, bar none. 

  My second pet peeve concerns the fiscal idiocy of J.K.Rowling's refusal to recognize electronic publishing as a legitimate secondary market. The result has been, of course, that Ms Rowling and her equally dimwitte publisher spend an inordinate amount of their time and money chasing down and suing every pirate they can find, because there are no authorized, moderately priced, ebook editions of the Harry Potter titles available to legitimate customers like me.

  But enough about that..... 

  In closing, I want to give my heartfelt thanks and a hearty round applause to Jon Noring for all he has done and constinues to do to support the epublishing industry and, last but not least, I would like to wish everyone here a supremely happy and prosperous New Year. 

  (January 1, 2008 is also, incidentally, my 70th birthday).
