Apparently, I'm being nitpicked to death on this one.

I meant:

in the US, how often does a book's LIST PRICE go down?

Most of a book's royalties come from a calcuation that originates on
its list or cover price. Overstock and remainders are one of those
exceptions that are generally handled separately in the author
contract. Because they almost always net the author nearly nothing,
they can safely be ignored for the purposes of the discussion I
replied to.

Now, can we get back to real issues, and not nit picks over whether or
not there are times when publishers sell at extreme discounts, like
overstocks and remainders?
