Hearsay on the collusion; very unprofessional of you to caution people
not to take Dan's word for something he can prove, while you assert
the unprovable.
And actually, no. It might surprise you, but no one at EPIC mentions
you, at all. There are very few past members, even those who left in a
huff, who are mentioned even in passing these days, unless we are
researching when something was instituted and the reasoning behind it,
in an effort to make changes to the positive and not repeat old
mistakes. Why waste energy on that?

Only if you didn't take the VERY simple step of unsubscribing
yourself. It's at the bottom of every post and has been, nearly since
the lists were opened. In fact, it's included in every post on every
list. If you look at the bottom of mine, you will find...
Unsubscribe: ebook-community-unsubscribe [[at]]
Moreover, you can unsubscribe at the Yahoo site.
Since I know when you quit EPIC, I know we were on Yahoo lists,
already. It was only the earliest years that we weren't.
That means that you could have had yourself unsubscribed in a few
minutes, without waiting for anyone to catch up with the work. After
all, all EPIC officers and office holders are volunteers. We have jobs
and lives outside of EPIC. If something doesn't happen in a day or
two, that's usually why.

You might. Then again, you might consider that I also have personal
messages from you, ranting and raving, making threats and making
claims of things that I have e-mail records to debunk. So... Do I know
you personally? No. I don't. I only know what I remember of you from
EPIC and this list and what I've seen of you in private e-mails. I
remember just a bit of your final months on EPIC lists. I can honestly
say I've seen worse on those lists...but only twice, since you've been
gone.
As far as the e-mail trails I have seen support, nothing you have
tried to tell me about the abuses of former EPIC boards (in particular
two former EPIC presidents) against you thus far has been true. I've
offered an open mind, if you ever want to send me the e-mails you
claim you have, the ones that would reportedly prove the opposite. You
"refuse" to send them to me. Your choice. As long as all the evidence
I've seen supports another story, I'm following the chain I have. I
have EVIDENCE of what the other side is telling me. I have hearsay
from you. Sorry if I choose to take what you've told me with a grain
of salt, considering the circumstances.
No matter what you say, you are presenting a 5-year-old picture of an
organization that has grown past what you knew of it. EPIC is not what
it was 5 years ago. I might note that, 5 years ago, the romance and
erotic authors (for all your screams about how they were favored)
regularly took abuse from you and a few others. There was no cohesion.
There was a major schizm we were trying to work past, at the time.
These days, short of a few hot tempers, there is no such thing.
Do people wish for changes? Of course, they do. It's the nature to
want to keep shaping the organization, and a good organization
changes.
The Science Fiction writers STILL want more splits on the EPPIE,
splits that I personally think are a good idea. I'd love to be able to
split the soft science from the hard science, to have the ability to
make science fantasy a separate category...slipstream...and so on.
Unfortunately, I tell them the same thing I always do. When the
numbers of entries will support a split, we'll make a split.
But, as often as we can, we make changes. We've made body of works
eligibility now, specifically because e-publishing (and print
anthology/magazine publishing) allow authors to write a large body of
works too short to hit the 30K single-title line. Fair is fair. Are
they any less worthy of membership? I said no...and the majority
agreed with that assertion.
In the meantime, your personal bias against the company I work for and
the organization I represent aside, you (Freddie/Kate...whatever
you're calling yourself this week) have no personal knowledge of me,
past the fact that I will take fact over hearsay every day of the
week. Take what I say with whatever grain of salt you wish to. I have
my files.
