What I am suggesting is that at this time we allow different
experimental web interfaces to "compete". There is no rule that says
we as a community have to pick one.

I intend to keep YahooGroups as the underlying "listserv" for The
eBook Community, and of course YahooGroups provides its own
rudimentary web forum overlay for those who are happy using that.

So if someone wants to try another web forum overlay for TeBC, that'd
be great! Then we can offer subscribers a choice of which one they
prefer to use.

Note that YahooGroups itself still allows subscribers to join the
"old fashioned way" by simply sending in a subscribe message to
"ebook-community-subscribe-hHKSG33TihhbjbujkaE4pw@public.gmane.org", without need to get a
YahooID. Such a subscriber will not have access to the bells and
whistles of the YahooGroups web interface, but they still have the
ability to do the important things (e.g., receive message emails,
change message delivery settings including to "off", have posting
privileges, etc. -- not sure on the RSS feed provided by YahooGroups,
however.)

(I still encourage everyone to join as full subscribers with a
YahooID, though.)

If anyone is interested in trying some sort of independent TeBC web
forum interface, contact me in private email, [email protected], and
we'll discuss it. As we talk about it I'll probably interject a few
requirements -- just advanced warning. At this point my requirements
are pretty minimal as I haven't thought through all the angles yet.
