As you're aware, eBooks themselves cost virtually nothing to create.  
However, unless the author feels that their time is worth exactly 
nothing, the 20% of Net we charge covers typesetting (from a collection 
of over 3,000 available fonts), book cover design (from close to 1 
Million photos and clip arts), ISBN registration (if applicable to what 
the author wants), and setting up POD/eBook versions for online use, and 
limited (to available capitol, obviously) marketing.  Our services are 
designed more for the author with a well-edited manuscript that just 
needs the final professional work done, making it ready for distribution.

Naturally, all authors can use POD services on their own.  This is 
well-known.  But unless they can create (or have it created) book 
covers, their own E-Commerce system with web pages, properly formatted 
ISBN-books/eBooks, marketing points, etc., then Wallstone still has a 
niche market.  It's not that we won't do the edits/rewrites, but the 
editing staff won't do it for free.  And I adamantly refuse to charge an 
average of 30% extra commission to cover their costs.  Accordingly, this 
was (and is) our only working solution.

If I let the Chief Editor (my uncle) charge what both his experience and 
education would permit, then we would be charging $5,000 to edit the 
average novel.  This is the main reason we now compromise the difference.
