I may be "only" small press published but my opinions were molded mainly by publishers. They told me I shouldn't pay them money in order to get puiblished. I though that sounded like a damn good idea ;) > I have NEVER seen a large publishers' contract that didn't include > consequences for writers who screw up the process in a big way for > all concerned. I am thinking of what is routine assuming both published and author do what they should. i.e. if thing go to plan will I pay. For "traditional publishing" I would say: no. Not only not pay the whole bill, or most of the bill, but not pay at all. When recently discussing a press that charged authors for cover art I found it was not only authors who disagreed with this, but also other publishers and readers. The fee in question with Tsaba (can someone confirm it exists?) seems not a consequence of failure on the part of the author, but routine. I am talking about routine fees not 'no author should ever pay anything even if they default on the terms of the contract'. > Because you, and almost all other authors, aren't that kind of > person, you'll also see why these things don't impinge upon the > writers' zeitgeist. Did anyone suggest otherwise? Is this what Tsaba does. Because I thought it was a routine fee as part of honoring the contract, not a penalty for failing to. Perhaps someone can say what exactly, if anything, Tsaba does charge, and when. It seems to be the bone of contention and I don't know what bone it is. Some people here seem familar with Tsaba which i am not. What exactly is this fee? ------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------ Post a message: ebook-community [[at]] * Unsubscribe: ebook-community-unsubscribe [[at]] * Switch to digest: ebook-community-digest [[at]] * Switch to normal: ebook-community-normal [[at]] * Put mail on hold: ebook-community-nomail [[at]] * Administrator: ebook-community-owner [[at]] * (* == yahoogroups.com) -------------------------------------------------------Yahoo!
