or the soon to be dismantled Borders, less power than the littler
bookstore chains. Publishers have SO very little control over the
book world, that you'd be stunned.
In the US, there are 5 big publishers putting out maybe 20,000 titles
per year (haven't looked it up, but it can't be more than that).
There are 84,000 littler publishers putting out 280,000 titles per year.
They're not doing a very good job of squelching anything.
