Given that they did this with ebooks, dumping all formats but Mobi 
with minimal/almost no warning, I can see why they think it would 
work with POD books.  I looked long and hard and didn't find a single 
major online commentator who condemned them dropping all ebooks other 
than those carried by Mobi and a screamingly anti-competitive move to 
set them up for "inventing" the ebook reader in the form of Kindle.

So if this is to prevented with POD I would suggest contacting 
everyone likely to be affected (small and self-publishing, even large 
presses that POD backlist) and protesting strongly both directly and 
in public.  Don't expect there to be a sudden transition to the new 
order.  The lock out will probably phase in starting with the lowest 
status titles.
