RE: Re: "The Elusive E-book"

This is all *PURE* speculation and maybe I'm reading to much into the statement Steve Jobs said about the Amazon Kindle. 
 
He cited a stat that said 1 in 4 Americans didn't complete a single book last year, which means 3 in 4 did. That's a lot of potential money to leave on the table.
 
It is a well know tactic of Jobs to ridicule a technology until he has Apple come up with a way to do it better. Until then, it's garbage and a waste of time. When he gets Apple to do, it is the greatest thing since sliced bread. 
 
He went out of his way to pooh-pooh the Kindle which makes some Apple watchers think the idea of a Kindle like device has at least crossed his mind and there may be a prototype kicking around Apple HQ. 
Again, this is all pure speculation but somebody needs to come along with a device that is "cool" enough to get people reading e-books and out of the kingdom of the "geeks".

 s.The iPod Video and iPhone are the perfect e-readers (except for the expense). But don't expect an ereader to come from Steve Jobs. He's openly ridiculed ebooks--and pbooks iirc.
