I agree with Emily.
 
E-publishers do offer a lot of "genre" fiction that have started writing careers and satisfied readers.
 
I'd hate to think we'd have to concede the "literary fiction" market to the "big" publishers but this is one thing (genre/niche publishing) we can all offer while we seek out ways to attract the attention of the mainstream/literary fiction market.
 
I think genre readers probably know about us, at the very least the SF readers. It is expanding slowly into other genres where those readers, looking for more of their favorite lit, are giving e-books a try. 
 
Its the mainstream/literary folks who may be the toughest sell of all.

I think epublishers are offering things paper publishers aren't, maybenot on a deep literary basis but a pragmatic one. E-publishersallowed the female readership for erotica to grow exponentially byallowing anonymous online purchase, the growth of small pressescatering to their particular needs in that genre and a way to storebooks so the inquisive toddler will never find them--not to mention away for a lot of stay-at-home moms to make extra income writing eroticromance. This is a genre that was pioneered by epublishers and isstill better supplied on line than in store.
