Primary difference: most "free" music on Limewire and Kazaa and the
like is illegal and there is a small but non-zero risk of getting
caught and sued.
Most free written stuff is not illegal and even when it is, the
chances of getting caught and sued are pretty much non-existent.
Apple meet oranges.
