YOu've had some good answers, which show there is no researched 
information on the subject.   But consider further that the 
reading and method of use depend also, to an extent, on the 
purpose of the content and the purpose of the reader.

As an extreme example if you had downloaded a digital car manual 
and had to take out the engine and work on it would you use the 
screen - whichever one - or print out the whole book, or print 
out the relevant chapter?

You don't explain what type of book you are thinking of, so that 
will affect how it might be used.
