Digital Publishing Network (LinkedIn) is for personal networking, not discussion

I appreciate the replies by Ed, Aaron and Jon Jermey. My announcement
for the Digital Publishing Network (DPN) at LinkedIn did not clarify
how DPN differs from this discussion group, The eBook Community.

DPN is NOT a discussion forum. LinkedIn, which hosts DPN, does not
even support group discussions as far as I know (if they do, I'm sure
it is more than useless.)

Rather, the purpose of DPN is for personal, one-on-one networking with
others in the digital publishing universe, such as for employment,
consulting, business ventures, personal interest, etc. It's useful
for the commercial, non-profit, academic, and government domains
(which pretty much covers everything under the sun.)

So, it's like comparing apples and oranges, or maybe apples and
carrots. DPN and TeBC have their distinctive roles to play in the
digital publishing ecosystem, and there's very little overlap in their
respective roles. If anything, they could augment each other --
something I am now contemplating.

As the administrator of this discussion community, I always have to
look ahead and predict how new developments in online social
networking and communication will impact us.

With that said, those interested in learning more about DPN are again
referred to the following links:

Hope to see many of you at DPN!

(p.s., LinkedIn may at first appear intimidating since it's almost
like building an online resume'. However, you can start by leaving out
a lot of info in your profile, and then over time slowly add to it. I
need to do a major update of my profile, but that hasn't deterred me
from building my connections now...)
