Based on the sample provided, maybe they're not protecting us from
profanity but from yet another example of mediocre, cliched writing.
Here's a clue, folks. Vendors have now and will always have the right
to decide what is appropriate for their "shelves," virtual or
otherwise. That's not censorship. Censorship happens when a GOVERNMENT
establishes criteria regarding what constitutes acceptable literature
and provides legal consequences for those who violate those criteria.
In other words, Apple is no more obliged to sell ebooks that contain
language they feel is offensive than I am to publish erotica just
because I'm a publisher. Is it tacky? Yes. Is it illegal or immoral?
Nope. You don't have to like it, and neither do I, but vendors have
the right to decide what they will and won't sell.
