In England, with the Public Lending Right, authors do get compensated every year for the amount of usage their books get in libraries. Vested interests have, so far, prevented that from happening in the U.S. Libraries also pay for the books that they lend out to their patrons. If you feel that your own personal creative efforts should be given away for free, feel welcome to post them for use on torrent search sites. Many (most/virtually all) writers and publishers and editors and agents feel that creative work should be compensated appropriately and that posting a writer's work to such a site without the writer's express permission is theft. Every time such an action has been examined, the legal system has supported the position of the authors. Post as you wish but be aware that you are breaking the law when you post something that you did not create and be prepared to accept whatever legal consequences flow from your action.
