Ed,

Your best bet is to set up PayPal to take the money and
deliver it to your bank account, and then choose from the
many free scripts for a website. The best for a beginner may
well be Wordpress, but you would need to learn a bit of html
at least to adapt it. Better go for one that has a cart in
it, like Mal's - though for one book a simple PayPal button
might serve well enough. Paypal makes a small charge per
transaction at its basic two levels, with no setup costs.

Cost to this point: a bit of your time.

Find a good low cost host - I think 34sp.com has a service
in the US as well as in the UK. At the testing stage you
should not need to lay out more that $40-$50.

If you really need some elementary instruction on coding and
setting up a website start with the tutorials on About.com;
costs nil. And then buy a SAMS or O'Reilly book.

For a domain name you can pay anything from around $5 to
$1000 [more if you really, really want a sought after name
and suffix].

That should get you up and running for under $100, and
relatively painlessly. [An equivalent in the UK can be done
for under £30 - book extra].

When your turnover hits $1m you can spend $20k on a web
designer ;-).
